Snowfall

I can only see the snow falling in the light, beyond that is nothing but a black empty void.
What is out there?
In the dark silence where my breathe and heartbeat make the only sound.
In the cold air, wisps of mist wrapping around me like the tendrils of some ancient beast long forgotten by man.
Is there something magical beyond my sight?
Are you out there waiting for me?
Am I just a few steps away from being with you again?
Or is it just more chilly and endless night?
I keep telling myself it's just a few more feet, keep moving.
I forget how many times I said that before I cannot go on.
I still have not found you. I have looked so hard.
I am tired and numb. I think I will stay right here for a while.
Layered in frost and lost in thoughts of you, I'll be waiting here.
A breeze dances thru the leafless branches and just like me, it's alone.
